Derail the Dragon

A dragon-train is coursing across the land. 

When a mighty drake was slain by the efforts of heroes, its soul remained, fueled by rage. Now it has possessed a man-made machine, twisting it into a new draconic body and bringing objects inside it to life with the wyrm's dark power. The locomotive is destroying anything that stands in its way, and it shrugs off all attacks from outside.

You, a gnome versed in earth magic, have managed to jump onto the very last car of the train. If you can just make it to the engine, you might be able to destroy the beast from inside.
